YouTube App Prepares to Add Additional Filter Options in Search Results

Google’s Android YouTube app has been lacking several of its desktop counterparts feature-set for some time (though the desktop version itself lacks from pretty major features), but it seems that Google is prepared to introduce some new filter options within the YouTube’s app’s search feature that will now allow you to filter by rating, relevance, and view count. These new features were pulled from strings found within the most recent YouTube app update, version 11.20.54. However, we haven’t seen these new filter options show up within the app itself, so it’s anyone’s guess when these new options will roll out to users.
Disclaimer: The evidence we dig up from the APK file of an app is not definitive.Google may choose to pull these features without any indication in a future release.

Filter Options on Android
On the YouTube desktop website, you have a much wider variety of filter options available to you. On the Android version however, you only have the ability to filter by date, duration, content type, or quality. Digging into the APK file for the recent YouTube app update reveals the following strings:
<string name="by_rating_search">Rating</string>
<string name="by_relevance_search">Relevance</string>
<string name="by_view_count_search">View count</string>
These are all fairly straight-forward to decipher, but it’s nice to see that we’ll soon be getting additional search options within the YouTube app. Being able to filter videos byrating, relevance, and view count should open the door for users to take control of what kinds of videos they’re shown and ensure that only highly popular and/or well-liked videos are shown in your search results.
Before, the search options were woefully inadequate on mobile devices, which is major issue for Google seeing as according to their own official statistics over half of all views on YouTube come from mobile devices.

Google confirms Nougat is Android 7.0 in video| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

Google has officially N-ounced that Android N is no longer Android N: it's Android Nougat! Nougat was a medium-strength contender for the name of the upcoming OS, and while we still don't have a version number, everyone knows it's the dessert part that's more exciting anyway.

Google's official Android YouTube channel just uploaded the video below. Above? A screen capture from it. Android 7.0 Nougat - there you have it. Google revealed the nickname of the latest Android OS earlier this morning along with the mascot you see above.
Android 7.0 follows Android 6.0.1, meaning Android 6 never even had a proper 6.X release. Android 5.0 had 5.1[.1], 4.0 had 4.1 through 4.4[.4], 3.0 had 3.1, 2.0 had 2.1 through 2.3[.7], and 1.0 had 1.1, 1.5, and 1.6.
What does this mean? Frankly, nothing. Almost nothing at all: it's just a number, an easy way to refer back to a particular iteration of the Android operating system. It's always fun to find out, nonetheless. Now, begin clamoring for your respective Android 7.0 OTA.

Google adds earthquake info card to search results| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

What was that shaking? Was it a big truck driving past or an earthquake? Now Google search will be able to tell you in a more straightforward fashion. A new earthquake card will be presented at the top of search results in the event of a quake with information about the event and safety tips.
EarthquakesFlow_cutout_transparent
You can get this card following an earthquake by searching for "earthquake," "earthquakes near me" or  something similar. The card will include a map of the quake's epicenter and affected areas. That might mean a small one very near, or something larger farther away.
A section of tips for what to do next will be below the "shakemap" so you can prepare for potential aftershocks and other hazards. Links to details on other tremors will also be provided so you can compare the event to past ones. This feature should be live for everyone if you want to try it out. Although the nearest quake will probably be quite distant.

Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides show comment notifications on Android and Web [APK Download]| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

When you're working on a shared Google Drive document, spreadsheet, or presentation, you often get lots of comments highlighting specific sections and pointing out things to change, fix, or work on. Previously, those comments would be condensed into an email and that was your only way of knowing someone has something new to say about one of your files.
Now, comment notifications will show up on the web as well as in all three Google apps. Docs, Sheets, and Slides already got a notifications setting in a previous update, but they'll now use that to also surface comments on your shared documents, just like in the screenshot above. You'll have to tap to read the entire comments if there are several and to reply or act on them.
The apps have been updated in the Play Store, but just in case they're not showing up for you yet, you can grab them from APK Mirror:

[Update: 6.8] Latest Play Store 6.7 Enables The Beta Testing Features For Some Users [APK Download]| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

Last week, the Play Store rolled up some beta testing features in its version 6.7 update, but they quickly disappeared as Google reverted them back in a server-side change. The company later announced these features at I/O as part of a series of improvements to Google Play that also include lots of developer console changes.
Now it seems that the beta testing options have started showing up again for users on version 6.7.12 of the Play Store. To be clear, neither Artem nor Cody nor I am seeing it on our devices, even after clearing the Play Store's data. So it looks to be a staggered server switch with very few devices let in on the action. The screenshots here were provided by other users who are seeing a new Betatab under the My apps & games section of the Play Store. This is where all the apps which betas they have enrolled in show up.

Dat QuickPic beta test...
Once you tap on one of these, you'll see the notice that you're a beta tester above the description and you'll be able to leave it immediately. Joining open betas is also now done through the Play Store instead of requiring you to go to a specific URL to become a tester.
If you're still waiting on version 6.7.12 of the Play Store to roll to your device, you can speed up the process by grabbing the app manually from APK Mirror. Once you do, let us know if you see this new tab in your Play Store app, and also if you have any of the other new beta-related features like sending private feedback to developers and the Google Play Early Access section for unreleased apps.
