YouTube App Prepares to Add Additional Filter Options in Search Results| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

YouTube App Prepares to Add Additional Filter Options in Search Results

Google’s Android YouTube app has been lacking several of its desktop counterparts feature-set for some time (though the desktop version itself lacks from pretty major features), but it seems that Google is prepared to introduce some new filter options within the YouTube’s app’s search feature that will now allow you to filter by rating, relevance, and view count. These new features were pulled from strings found within the most recent YouTube app update, version 11.20.54. However, we haven’t seen these new filter options show up within the app itself, so it’s anyone’s guess when these new options will roll out to users.
Disclaimer: The evidence we dig up from the APK file of an app is not definitive.Google may choose to pull these features without any indication in a future release.

YouTube Filter Options

Filter Options on Android
On the YouTube desktop website, you have a much wider variety of filter options available to you. On the Android version however, you only have the ability to filter by date, duration, content type, or quality. Digging into the APK file for the recent YouTube app update reveals the following strings:
<string name="by_rating_search">Rating</string>
<string name="by_relevance_search">Relevance</string>
<string name="by_view_count_search">View count</string>
These are all fairly straight-forward to decipher, but it’s nice to see that we’ll soon be getting additional search options within the YouTube app. Being able to filter videos byrating, relevance, and view count should open the door for users to take control of what kinds of videos they’re shown and ensure that only highly popular and/or well-liked videos are shown in your search results.
Before, the search options were woefully inadequate on mobile devices, which is major issue for Google seeing as according to their own official statistics over half of all views on YouTube come from mobile devices.

YouTube introduces mobile live streaming, built directly into YouTube app| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

Live streaming is a big topic at the moment, what with Twitter (through Periscope) and Facebook introducing their own mobile solutions to the growing social market. Despite the fact YouTube is the biggest video repository on the web, it didn't have native mobile live streaming - until now.
Of course, YouTube has had live streaming for a while - Google I/O for one has been live streamed on the platform for the last few years. However, moving this platform to mobile is a pretty big leap, as it essentially means anyone will be able to live stream anything. According to YouTube's blog post, to start streaming all you'll have to do is hit a big red button in the app - I assume this will be a fairly prominent button - and you're off. Similarly, the videos will be searchable by other users, or set to private so only people with the link will be able to access the stream. The company is boasting about how due to YouTube's 'peerless infrastructure,' these live streams will be faster and more reliable than its rivals. Quite a promise to make, so we'll see how it works out when the feature has fully rolled out.
There's no word on when the feature is due to go live (hah) on either Android or iOS other than "soon," so just keep checking the YouTube app. In the meantime, watch YouTube's CEO Susan Wojciki give her keynote address at this year's VidCon.

WhatsApp video calls are coming, but here's what you do in the meantime| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

UPDATE: Video calling interface spotted in latest WhatsApp update

When WhatsApp finally got a voice calling feature last year it left us with just one question: when do we get video? There have been plenty of hints at its impending arrival and now the feature has shown up in the Android beta app. With Facebook in the driver's seat, it’s a matter of when, not if, WhatsApp video calling is coming. Here’s what we know about how to make WhatsApp video calls.

WhatsApp video calling is coming soon.

Latest news

The WhatsApp video calling feature seems to be a little closer to release as the feature was reportedly spotted in a beta version of the WhatsApp app.
As seen in the image below, the WhatsApp calling options appear to have been present, though the actual calling functionality wasn't available. You can read more about this update in our original new story.

This could be WhatsApp's video calling interface.

How to make WhatsApp video calls

You can’t, yet, but what you can do is send a video clip to your WhatsApp contacts. In order to send video to somebody in WhatsApp, you use the same procedure you’d use to send a photo, an audio clip, your location or somebody’s contact details.
Open a chat with the person you want to send the video, tap the attachment button at the top of the screen (it’s the one that looks like a paperclip) and then tap on the kind of thing you want to send, so, in this case, you’d tap video. You can add a caption if you like, and then you can send the clip by tapping on the send button in the preview.
You can also forward a video sent to you by somebody else. To do that, tap and hold on the message(s) you’d like to forward, tap the forward arrow icon, and choose a conversation to forward the message to. Don’t worry about data use here: while the forwarded message(s) will appear to have come from you, you don’t have to upload the message or messages again. WhatsApp takes care of that.

How making WhatsApp video calls will probably work

WhatsApp might not have video calls yet, but many rivals do – and you can get a good idea of how WhatsApp video calling should work by checking out alternative apps such as the excellent Viber, which is one of the best instant messenger apps for Android.
In the case of Viber, making a video call means making a voice call first. Select your contact, tap the Free Call button, and wait for the call to connect. Once it connects, you’ll need to tap the Video Call button to move into video calling mode, and the person you’re calling needs to activate it too or you won’t be able to see him, her or them.
You can do the same thing in Skype for Android – there’s a button you can use to turn the video on or off during a call – but unlike Viber you don’t need to initiate a voice call first if you don’t want to. All you need to do is sign in, tap the contact you want to video call and then tap on the video call. If WhatsApp doesn’t do something very similar when it brings in video calling we’ll eat a Nexus.

What if you don’t want to receive or make WhatsApp video calls?

Once again, Skype shows how it’ll probably work: in its Settings card under Voice and Video Calls you can choose between the following options:
  • Receive calls from: choose who you receive Skype video calls from. You can use this option to stop unwanted video calls from unknown people.
  • Answer calls automatically: select this option if you want incoming voice and video calls to be answered automatically.
  • Enable video calling: on most devices, video calling is enabled by default.
  • Technical info: select this option if you want to see technical information about your call.
  • Video quality: choose your video call quality. The higher the quality, the more data a video call will use.
That all seems pretty sensible to us, and it’d be good if WhatsApp introduced something similar. The app is almost certainly heading in that direction anyway, because now that Facebook owns it, it’s likely to get more Facebook-y and make more use of your Facebook network as well as your WhatsApp contact list.
Are you praying for the day WhatsApp introduces video calling, or would you rather keep your contacts out of the picture? Let us know in the comments.

BEST ROOT APPS FOR ANDROID (Part1)| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

If you've taken the plunge and decided to root your phone you're in for a treat: a whole new world of tweaks, modifications and custom ROMs awaits you. Once you're rooted, you can install any of the wide range of root apps for Android. These apps make use of root privileges to do a lot of the heavy lifting for you. Here are our picks for the best root apps for Android.

Best for easy flashing: Flashify

Flashing manually can be a lot of work. What if there was an app that did all the heavy lifting? With Flashify, you can sit back and let the app automatically flash for you. This is an app for those who like to have a lot of customization and don't want to spend endless hours getting get.
With Flashify, you can flash your boot.img, recovery.img and zip files with ease. If you want to backup these to your local or cloud storage, the app automatically syncs them. You get automatic cloud synchronization between backups of devices and your desktop. The app allows you to restore kernel and recovery using an SDcard as well.
The app is free to use but you should be aware that you can only perform three free flashes per day. If you have a lot of flashes to do, you might want to consider purchasing a few more. If you want to spread them out so you don't have to pay, you can add them to your queue and they can be flashed the next day.

Best superuser app: SuperSU

If you're rooted you need SuperSU. The two go hand in hand and while you can avoid SuperSU, there's no reason that you would want to. It's by far the best root assistant around, to the extent that many rootable kernels have you install SuperSU by default.
Essentially Super SU manages the apps you give superuser permissions to, but there's a bunch of other cool stuff to discover as well.

Best app for removing bloatware: System App Remover

The second thing any rooted Android user should do is remove those pre-installed system apps – also known a bloatware – that come with most new phones and waste precious internal storage and system resources.
Unfortunately, there's no easy way to recover the memory they're occupying but you can remove them to stop the drain on your battery and CPU. System App Remover is a great tool for this.

Best app for audio control: Viper4AndroidFX

If you're serious about the audio output of your rooted Android phone then Viper4Adnroid FX is the root app you want. It has too many features to list here, but you can go nuts with EQ mode settings, get near-lossless sound quality, optimize your speaker output, get Hi-Fi sound on your headphones and manage system audio settings to work on any third-party or system app.
Get the latest supported version from XDA Developers.

Best backup app: Titanium Backup

Backups are an essential part of any rooted phone owners repertoire. And backup solutions don't get much better than Titanium Backup, especially once you're rooted. Before you start delving into system mods, ROMs and other tweaks, it's always a good idea to do a full backup before you proceed, just in case things go haywire. Titanium takes the pain out of making and managing backups.

LastPass Authenticator: best app protection| for sock rom go to rompure.com | for sock rom go to rompure.com

 LastPass Authenticator: best app protection

LastPass has had a password manager app for some time, letting you store all your passwords in one safe location under a single master password. Now, the team behind it have expanded to provide a two-factor authentication tool. Lastpass Authenticator generates a 6-digit code that you enter to verify your account. It works with LastPass's own password manager, as well as any TOTP-compatible apps.
While there are other authenticators like this out there, including Google Authenticator, if you tie this service into LastPass's own ecosystem, it provides probably the best and most secure option for keeping your data safe from more physical reaches than the digital grasps addressed in the other apps on this list.

You may recall that TrustGo's Antivirus & Mobile Security was on previous version of this list. While it was credible at the time, and still has more than 10 million downloads, this app hasn't been updated since 2014 and given the frequency with which new threats are created, we can no longer recommend it.
Have you ever suffered from a virus, Trojan or malware on your Android? What do you think is the best Android antivirus app and why? Tell us about it in the comments.
